How to create a self-care sanctuary at home?
You don't have to go to a fancy spa to have an amazing self-care experience,
just being a bit productive and invested in your self-care regimen is what you need.
You can do everything at home if you want to have some luxurious time with yourself.
Let's see how you can do that..
Choose your Activity
Decide what you want to do.
Have a nice bath
Pamper yourself with some foot soak, manicure or just some facial
Spend some time reading a book
Unwind while watching a movie or series
Have a relaxing yoga session
Have a date night with yourself
Journal your feelings
Try on some new hair and makeup looks
These are just some examples, but you can choose whatever you want to do that will relax you and ease your anxiety.
Choose your Space
Now that you have chosen your self-care activity, choose a space for it.
This is important because when you are trying to build your habits, your brain needs to make a connection with the cue and the trigger.
Just like when you see your bed you think of sleeping, you must see your self-care space in connection with the activity you want to do.
Allot a space for a particular activity.
Like a reading nook, zen corner or yoga corner.
Set the tone
Now is the time to set the tone for your activity. Make sure to do this beforehand so that there is no probability of procastination.
Include the activity in your schedule so that you have time to prepare for it.
To set the tone you can decorate your space to make it more inviting, light some candles, make some tea or coffee, put on some music, or whatever you need to make your space feel more sacred and 'Me Time'.
Get your Tools
You have set the tone, decorated the space, made it more luxurious,
Now gather all the supplies that you need for your Self-care Rituals.
Whether it's your yoga mat, book, journal, laptop, skincare, makeup, mani-pedi tools, snacks, or whatever it is you want to do.
Try to be as efficient as you can be.
Gather everything that you might need so that you don't have to get up in the middle.
Enjoy your Self-care time!
The most important thing to remember is that you deserve your time. You deserve to be pampered and loved by yourself.
So don't feel guilty if there are million other things you need to do, just relax and enjoy your time with yourself.
Put your phone on silent mode or better yet tell your family and friends that you will be unavailable for next hour or however time you need to yourself, and to contact you only in case of any emergency.
Set your boundaries.
Prioritise your sacred
time.
